BATS is a non-profit, non-professional Theatre Group based in Broadford, Victoria.
Situated in the Mitchell Shire, the group caters mainly for towns in the area such as Kilmore, Seymour, Wallan, Wandong and Avenel, but also includes performers and patrons from further afield such as Nagambie, Whittlesea, Heathcote and Craigieburn.
Since its inception in 1980, BATS has generally performed one major Musical Production per year, usually held over the last three week-ends of School Term Two. Even though our performances are always done on a fairly small stage, with limited space off-stage, the standard of the shows has been exceptional, and the group has developed an excellent reputation. A second Show is then performed over two week-ends in October. This may take the form of a Play, a Pantomime, A Review/Concert or a Music Hall Production. This gives the chance for non-singers to appear on stage, and also enables people to develop Production skills in areas to which they are unaccustomed.
BATS has been fortunate to have two members who have written five of our Shows and have been performed with great success.
The Broadford Amateur Theatrical Society Inc.(B.A.T.S.) is a not for profit, community based theatre company managed by a committee of managements elected by the members.
